Wedding Music

A splendid starter for any ceremony - the bride will love it.

Full Title Trumpet Tune by Henry Purcell (1659-1695)

Notes There are several trumpet tunes by Purcell (and to complicate matters further, the Prince of Denmark's March (q.v.) is sometimes said to be by Purcell. Make sure you get the right one!

There is a charming suite of Purcell voluntaries compiled by Osborne H Peasgood (the then organist of Westminster Abbey) for the wedding of HRH Princess Margaret on 6th May 1960.

Duration With any of the bridal entrance marches, any good organist will cut the piece to length, so that the bride is not standing for an unnecessarily long time at the front of the church.
